Bilateral boost: Chinese firm to help make attack craft

The Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works will build a Fast Attack Craft (FAC) for the Pakistan Navy in collaboration with the Chinese company, China Shipbuilding and Offshore Company Pvt Limited. “We hope to complete the project of the ‘Attack Craft’ with missile carrier by April next year,” said Chief of Staff, Pakistan Navy Vice Admiral Tayyab Ali Dogar on Friday. The shipyard’s managing director, Rear Admiral Hasan Nasir Hussain Shah, said their engineering sector would complete the project three weeks in advance. “The craft will have a maximum speed of 30 knots propelled by four diesel engines,” Shah said. It will be eqipped with weapons and sensors. The yard has successfully constructed a numberof warships including missile craft, tugs and it has fabricated many of the utility ships.
