“I have been watching a lot of videos to improve my game,” Sajjad told The Express Tribune. “It is the only way I can prepare myself to compete against world class cueists.”
It is the third time Sajjad will take part in the prestigious tournament, where a selected group of 16 international professionals and 16 amateurs participate vie for the Baht200,000 prize money.
Sajjad, who has been preparing at a training camp in Islamabad since July 8, said, “We don’t have a coach who can guide us, so watching videos is the only alternative I have.”
He added that the videos have helped him improve his game and mastered new shots.
“I reached the last years’ world championship finals because of this strategy,” added the current Asia number two.
However, Sajjad is looking forward to play alongside Stephen Hendry and Ronnie O’ Sullivan, who will be featuring in this tournament for the first time.
And since the sports ministry did not provide the funds, the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Federation President Alamgir Sheikh said that the trip has been arranged on the federation’s own expense.
