Karachi violence: Govt forms commission to compensate victims' families

It will also propose the names of those people who deserve compensation.

KARACHI: Sindh government has formed a commission to compensate the families of victims of Karachi violence, Express 24/7 reported on Thursday.

Justice retired Zahid Khan Alvi has been appointed as head of this commission.

The commission will review the cases regarding the people affected by violence in Karachi this year.

It will also propose the names of those people who deserve compensation. Commission will prepare its report within 90 days and send it to the Sindh government.

As reported earlier, formation of this committee is part of work to implement the Supreme Court’s Karachi violence suo motu verdict.

According to a previous report, each family will get around Rs0.5 million.
