Another scandal: Anjum Aqeel booked for occupying land in capital

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police booked another case against Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML-N) member of National Assembly (MNA) Anjum Aqeel Khan for illegally occupying a plot in Islamabad, reported Express 24/7 on Thursday.

The case was registered by the Golra police following an application by retired police officer Raja Ayub.

Khan is already facing a case in the National Police Foundation (NPF) land scam. He was charged with defrauding the NPF of Rs6 billion and was arrested in July. However, he was freed shortly after the arrest by around 30 armed men who besieged the Shalimar police station.

PML-N President Nawaz Sharif had referred Khan’s case to the party’s disciplinary committee to propose action against the legislator for escaping from custody and repeatedly ignoring directives to surrender to the police.

Khan has been issued a show cause notice to explain his failure to immediately turn himself in to the police after the men helped him escape and his alleged involvement in the land scam.

He is currently on bail which will expire on November 1.

Except Jamaat-e-Islami all the parties in Pakistan are families dominated. Worthmentioning of them are PPP, PML and ANP. As regard to the corruption is concerned all of them are top scorers. However we can rate the PML 3rd and ANP and PPP 1st and 2nd consequetively. No party has its manifesto. A few lines manifesto is aired in election and then no more part of the party mission. I must quote an example. ANP clearly mentioned that if they succeeded in Election, pay of every person will be equal to 1 Tola gold. They are true only for Grade 17, politicians and above and nothing more. Their other point was, if their leadership failed in fulfilling its duties, the voters will be consulted. I shall clearly mention here that they changed the portfolios of most of the ministers due their failure but never consulted the voters. PMLN promised that they will never join with the corrupt elements and at that time they declared PPP as corrupt. But later they joined the coliation. All these parties joined hands agains Musharraf declaring him as a dictator and throwing the country into war. After his departure the PPP and ANP started the agenda of a dictator and failed to settle the war of terror through dialogue and political manner.

I think PMLN should get rid of land mafia bandits and decoits MNAs and MPAs to improve their image. If you look at Rawalpindi, all the PMLN high-ups belong to land mafia. Shahbaz Sharif talks about atrocities of Zardari, but he wouldn't challenge his own MNAs and MPAs who are looting and grabbing land of poor people. At least Zardari wouldn't go to small towns and places and illegally grab lands belonging to the poor.

PPPP should first implement democracy in their own party and then fight for democracy in the country.

Both PPPP and PMLN should hold elections within their own parties and give chance to leaders other than their own families to rule as well. Party Chairmanship shouldn't be something tranferrable as a birth right, instead it should keep revolving based on merit. Why should we start waiting for the son or a daughter of a dead leader to grow up and rule us. Its not a kingdom its a democratic state, at least for the time being. In our scenario miliatary dictators prove better than kings and queens. In Musharaf's regime poverty in Pakistan was reduced by 10%. In the current regime billions of dollars have already been looted and corruption is going on at a scale never heard of in the whole world, except few countries like New Guinea in Africa.

Imran Khan should focus more on presenting a roadmap on how he will achieve his main goal of bringing justice to people if elected. He should give us, the people of pakistan, a five year plan to implement law and order and get rid of corruption, lawlessness in great detail. Like for example, will he give a golden shakehand to our corrup police and recruit new police officers in the country? Change the colonial constitution to something more suitable to bring peace and prosperity in this country?
