Transmission lines: State enterprise wins contract in Saudi Arabia

ISLAMABAD: National Power Construction Corporation (NPCC), a Pakistani state enterprise of the Ministry of Water and Power, has won the contract for Turnkey Construction of 380kV Transmission Line valuing SR288 million (Rs7 billion) associated with Sanabl in the western region of Saudi Arabia.

This was announced by Federal Minister for Water and Power, Syed Naveed Qamar on Wednesday. The contract signing ceremony was held in Riyadh between Saudi Electric Company President Ali Saleh Al-Baraq and NPCC Managing Director Muhammad Ajaz Malik.

The minister further stated that the contract was awarded after a competitive international bidding where besides NPCC, four other prequalified Saudi, Korean and Indian companies submitted bids on September 21, 2011.

Qamar said that NPCC has all long been a self-financing unit making handsome contribution to the national exchequer and providing overseas employment to a large number of Pakistani managers, engineers, technical and unskilled staff and thus is a big source of foreign exchange earnings for Pakistan.

@Shafie: If so where is the beef?

Just naming one sector, why there are huge power shortages?

@Dallas Ali: Don't be a whining loser all the time. There are many good companies working in Pakistan and also abroad.
