According to initial reports, the explosion took place during the Friday bazaar in Meherban Kilay area. The nature of the blast is still unknown.
The area is known for sectarian violence and clashes between rival militant groups.
The attack in Tirah Valley follows Thursday's deadly attack in Mingora, Swat, where a suicide bomber killed at least six people, including two women, and injured around 60 in a busy market.
