The former Anti-Terrorism Court judge delivered the death sentence to Qadri for the murder of former Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer.
Local media reported that he fled the country after he received death threats from extremist groups.
Sources told The Express Tribune that he had submitted an application for a 50-day ex-Pakistan leave from October 18 to December 8, to the Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice CJ Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry.
Superintendent of Child Protection Court (CPC) Muhammad Jamil told The Express Tribune that Shah had taken charge on October 17. He reportedly left for Hajj on October 18, said Jamil, adding that "nothing extra was mentioned" in his application to LHC.
Sources revealed that the leave application does not mention anything in particular regarding death threats. Howeve,r earlier the judge had been unable to perform his duty due to the hostility of lawyers and other religious groups who had been asking the authorities to hand Shah over to them.
Shah was transferred to the CPC Bureau in Lahore as Sitting District and Session Judge and Presiding Officer amid protest from religious groups.
Special Prosecutor for the federal government, Saiful Malook - who fought the case on behalf of Taseer’s family - told The Express Tribune that he also faced death threats from some elements for appearing as counsel in the court.

Qadri and the likes.. should be provided every support and opportunity to convert themselves into shaheeds.Anybody (his lawyers & supporter included) trying to hinder his quick march towards shahadat are perhaps commiting blasphamy.
He must not come back to his country.
Shame on qadri,s supporters
@Gul: Shame on you Gul to be glorifying a human loss of life and shame on you again to be glorifying a murderer. Its people like you who shall be responsible to bring Pakistan to its knees.
@Fugitive:
A very candid and poignant post. Just one comment:
"Who said that he would get Pakistan, be it of the size of a handkerchief. It all started then. The Pakistan movement was the beginning of the end. Things do not come by overnight."
While this is contextually correct, temporally the problem dates much farther back. It all started with the ideology of "believers vs. unbelievers" or "us. vs. them". The problem with this ideology is that it will ultimately lead to the inevitable question of who really is "us"? That is what you are seeing in Pakistan and why this has been repeated throughout history where Muslims have been a minority.
Qadri is Ghazi?? so lets make him shaheed.. he said he is ready to die for Hazoor pbuh.. why is he appealing his death sentence.. let him die.. is he so scared of death.. is he crying like a chicken inside his cell? awww poor him.. wasn't he afraid at the time when he took the life of salman taseer.. he thought he is God and thus killed the man.. what happend to him now?.... let him bhie SHAHEED FOR YOU.. and he will always be a murderer, an evil person....
he should ask for asylum for him and his family, preferably out of islamic world
Shame on Taseer's supporters. Qadri is Ghazi
The judge did his job. Like it or not the law is the law. If the judge had not acted according to law he would have violated his oath.
Shame on all Qadri supporters!
Why can't government resolve this case the same why they resolved Raymond Davis' case? Give money to Taseer family and release Qadri like they released Raymond, after all Qadri is a hero for majority.
I'm sure if Qadr's supporters are asked to collect fund for Taseer family they would collect more than a billion rupees, that's a big sum guys!
BBC also reported that he fled the country. Hopefully, the Hajj story is correct.
What better way to reaffirm your Muslimness than to go for Hajj.. Good, smart move.
Please don't come back. I hope your immediate family members are with you.
Stay out of the country. Get your family out and settle abroad.
