The government of Japan has decided to extend financial support of US $ 105,629 (Rs 8.8 million) to the Kohsar Welfare Society (KWS) for the construction of a 7 kilometre concrete link Road in Lower Chalwara Village near Kotli Sattian in Rawalpindi District.
The agreement for the project was signed on Monday by Japanese Ambassador Hiroshi Oe and KWS President Dr Muhammad Kabir at the Japanese Ambassador’s residence in Islamabad.
This improved form of public transport will increase access to education, medical services and business activities. About 400 households (4,500 individuals) in the village and its adjacent areas would benefit from the facility.
At the signing ceremony, Ambassador Oe stressed that infrastructural and rural development are priorities in Japanese assistance policy towards Pakistan.
He also expressed hope that his project would help the local community in conducting matters of daily routine and improve their quality of life in the future.
The initiative would certainly strengthen the existing friendly relations between the people of Japan and Pakistan, he added.
