48 lawyers join the fake degree club

The degrees of 48 lawyers of Rawalpindi district courts were found to be fake on Thursday.

RAWALPINDI: The degrees of 48 lawyers of Rawalpindi district courts were found to be fake on Thursday.

Secretary General of District bar Rawalpindi, Khurram Masood Kiyani said these lawyers were practicing for the last 10 to 23 years in the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench.

He stated that lawyers with fake degrees were let off without legal reprisal only after they took an oath not to practice law in the future.

The Secretary General added that cases will be registered against lawyers with fake degrees, while High Court Bar Association's Joint Secretary Aisamul Haq Satti demanded the concerned authorities to verify degrees of the whole legal fraternity including judges of lower and apex courts.

Yasir Qadeer | 14 years ago | Reply This shows how deeply corruption is rooted in our system. On the other hand, media is reporting the fake degrees of other professionals as well. This should tell the politicians that this is not a personal war.

Ernest Dempsey | 14 years ago | Reply Alam, you are very right. Even many university professors don't know the basics of their subjects. They just earned their degrees by flattery and fraud. Making them sit in tests will reveal their depth.

F Alam | 14 years ago | Reply It's more important to ask everyone to sit in a test, even if they hold degrees. Even in Europe, one can see people buyig assignments, dissertations. Many places offer assignment only GENUINE degrees. Even with genuine degrees holders should prove that they have not just bought them. They should also talk about their assignments and tell us what sources they used writing them!!!

Syed A. Mateen | 14 years ago | Reply The degrees of all Karachi lawyers should also be sent to HEC for verification. Bogus degrees should be checked across the board. Any one found practicing on Bogus Degree should be expelled once and for all by the respective Bar Council, no matter which political party the lawyer belongs to.
