Mercury drops: 26 millimetres of rainfall recorded

PESHAWAR: The capital city of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa received 26 millimetres of rainfall on Sunday afternoon. The motorists faced hardships and a number of small vehicles got stuck in rainwater, inundating roads and streets and resulting in traffic jams in different parts of Peshawar. According to the local Met office, the rain started around 4pm and continued for half an hour. The worst affected areas included Latifabad, Karimpura, Board area, Gulbahar, Hashtnagri, and Swati Phattak. People came out in large numbers to buy winter clothes. Cold winds have been continuing since Saturday, decreasing temperatures in the provincial capital and are most likely to hit Peshawar and its surroundings plains on Monday, said the Met office.
