Public Disorder: Lahore saw 65 incidents in September, second only to Multan

As many as 418 incidents of public disorder took place in the province in September.

As many as 65 incidents of public disorders were reported in Lahore in September, second only to Multan where 77 such incidents were reported according to a monthly review of law and order situation in the province.  


As many as 418 incidents of public disorder took place in the province in September according to a report forwarded by a provincial government department to the police. Of these, 307 were classified as protests, two as sit-ins, 102 as road blocks, six that included damage to property and one firing.

The report said 154 of these were against excessive and unscheduled power outages, 134 against provincial government, 47 against town/tehsil administrations, 26 against alleged police highhandedness, 23 against federal government and 11 against Pakistan Railways administration.

According to a division-wise breakup, Multan and Lahore were followed by Bahawalpur with 63 incidents of public disorder, Gujranwala with 49, Sahiwal with 38, Dera Ghazi Khan with 33, Rawalpindi with 26 and Sargodha with 16.

The provincial home department has also forwarded the report to the Local Government and Community Development Department.
