Postings and transfers: 27 police, federal officials moved to Balochistan

A major reshuffle in the police department on Thursday has seen as many as 27 senior police officials of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) transferred to Balochistan.


Separate notifications issued by the Establishment Division reveal that former Rawalpindi Regional Police Officer (RPO) Muhammad Zubair has been transferred to Balochistan. Another Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) officer, Muhammad Azam Arshad, presently serving in the Punjab government, has been transferred to Balochistan.

The other BS-19 PSP officials serving in Punjab who were transferred to Balochistan are Muhammad Farooq Mazhar, Ghulam Rasool Zahid, Ashar Hameed, Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry, Muhammad Ehsan Younis, Abdul Qadeer Qayum, Shahzad Aslam Sidiqi, Muhammad Atif Akram, Suleman Ali Khan, Mehboob Rashid and Awais Ahmed.

As many as five PSP officers currently working in Sindh were transferred to Balochistan. Amir Ahmed Sheikh is a BS-19 official, while Saqib Sultan Al-Mehmood, Syed Pir Muhammad Shah, Pervez Khan Imrani and Zulfiqar Ali are BS-18 officials who have been transferred.

Five police officials currently working in K-P were asked to report to Balochistan. The BS-19 officials include Sadiq Kamal Khan Orakzai, Imtiaz Shah and Feroz Shah, whereas Capt (retd) Tahir Ayub Khan and Muhammad Ijaz Khan are of BS-18.

From the federal capital, the Establishment Division issued transfer orders of BS-19 official Ehsan Sadiq and BS-18 official Nadeem Hussain.

The Establishment Division has also issued separate transfer notifications for District Management Group (DMG) officers Zafar Nasrullah (BS-20) and Saqib Zafar (BS-19). Zafar is currently Rawalpindi’s district coordination officer (DCO).  According to the notification, the services of Khushdil Khan Malik (BS-20), an officer in the Director of Federal Government Education Institutions under the Defence Division, was moved to the Interior Division as National Counter-Terrorism Authority (NACTA) director general with immediate effect.

Cabinet Division Deputy Secretary Abdul Saboor Nizamani (BS-19) was transferred and posted as Federal Public Service Commission director general.

A notification dated October 12 regarding the posting of the officer as Establishment Division joint secretary was withdrawn ab-initio.

On Wednesday, the prime minister upgraded the post of Emigration and Overseas Employment Bureau director general from BS-21 to M-1 Grade. Muhammad Ijaz, a BS-20 officer of District Management Group, presently OSD, has been appointed the National Housing Authority director general.

The Establishment Division transferred Karachi Mega City Project Director Abdul Aleem Memon and posted him as Ministry of Ports and Shipping deputy secretary. Sindh Mines and Minerals Development Department Additional Secretary Abdul Rauf Siddiqi were posted as the Economic Affairs Division deputy secretary.

The service of Dr Zahid Larik (BS-19), currently at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), was placed at the disposal of the Gilgit- Baltistan government.

The Establishment Division approved the ex-post facto deputation of Sheryar Taj (BS-19) with the USAID funded Assessment and Strengthening Programme as Balochistan provincial director,  for two years and five months, effective from April 1, 2011.
