Dengue claims 4 lives in Lahore, one in Peshawar
Total number of dengue patients has crossed 17,500.
The dengue epidemic claimed five more lives across the country on Wednesday as four people succumbed to the virus in Lahore while a patient died in Peshawar, reported Express 24/7.
Around 215 new cases have been reported in the province of Punjab, out of which 125 belong to Lahore alone.
The total number of patients suffering from dengue has crossed 17, 500, while an estimated 15, 008 people are from Lahore; however, more than 17,000 patients have been discharged from hospitals after treatment.
Availability of doctors to be ensured: CM
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that the availability of consultants and doctors will be ensured at all times in public sector hospitals.
While chairing a meeting to discuss ways of combating the mosquito-borne disease, Sharif said that private hospitals and trusts must also send their staff for receiving training in treating dengue.
The chief minister asserted that the information regarding dengue patients in government and private hospitals in Punjab should be updated.
He also instructed the Provincial Education Minister and Secretary to monitor the measures being taken to prevent the spread of dengue virus in schools.
