The report quotes State Department spokesman Mark Toner saying that the situation in South Asia was not a zero-sum game. "We need good, solid, constructive relations between all the countries of that region, all of them pulling in the same direction so that all countries can reap the economic benefits that good, sound relations will yield," said Toner.
IBN Live's report claims that Toner's comments brush aside Pakistan's apprehensions of growing ties between Afghanistan and India.
Earlier this month Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai visited India, and signed several economic agreements with New Delhi.
Commenting on United State’s role in agreements between India and Afghanistan Toner said US is trying to promote a more constructive dialogue between all the countries in the region.

@Parvez:
Mess? Giving money and building infrastructure is not a messy business. Look at what the Chinese are doing in Pakistan. China has to handle the fallout in Pakistan too, as it is right next to it. For India, Pakistan is the buffer for any negative fallout.
The way India sees it: Pump in the money, do good, build infrastructure, gain a LOT of influence, gain a LOT of goodwill and then control things from there. There is no question of India sending its troops to Afghanistan.
@anil: Mr Krishna is almost 80 yrs. He is resting!
@anil: "Mr.Krishan’s sitting posture is not at all good" I see nothing wrong in Krishna's posture. What kind of a sitting posture would you have him adopt? Are you sure you are not a control freak of sorts?
@Pavez you should have advised to pakistani rulers in 1979 and 2001 before they "falled for shameless transparent wooing" and "got into a mess"
Mr.Krishan's sitting posture is not at all good.He should think that he is talking to a country's president ,doesn't matter which country it is.He should go through indian culture and teachings and should be down to earth in his behaviour also.
Yeah!! & we all know how sincere Americans are to the Afghans & Pakistanis...
Read between the lines:
US desperately needs Indian army to bail-out American troops from Afghanistan; Indian Army to be appointed as rent-an-army to protect American interests in the region; We will pay you peanuts to do that; and will constantly ask you to DO MORE ....
US DOUBLE GAME???? an then they blame Pakistan for playin double game. Pak knew of this betrayal from beforethats why they support taleban
