International Maths Contest: Young Rootsian clinches gold medal

The competiotion had 6.3 million students participating from 46 countries across the globe.

Khadeeja Mashood, a student of class 3 in Roots School System Rawalpindi, clinched a Gold Medal in the International Kangaroo Mathematics Contest (IKMC) 2011, said a press release issued by Roots.

A total of 42,000 Pakistani students participated in the competition, which had 6.3 million students participating from 46 countries across the globe. The school organised an IKMC Award Ceremony in Roots Junior School Rawalpindi to honour the maths whiz. Roots Director Riffat Mushtaq graced the occasion as the guest of honour and presented the Gold Medal and a cheque of Rs15,000 on behalf of the Pakistan Kangaroo commission to Khadeeja. Laraib Yousaf of class 5 was presented a bronze medal. Another 48 students were given distribution certificates.
