An 18-year-old girl was kidnapped, gang raped and murdered on Friday.
According to residents, Chak-79 WB Vehari resident, 18-year-old Monah was abducted from outside her home on Thursday afternoon as she was returning from the house of one of her relatives in the district. Police officials have refused to register a case.
Monah’s father Zulfiqar told reporters that his daughter had been kidnapped by Shahid, Arif, Bilal and Khalid who live in the rural vicinity of Basti Manser, Village 70-WB. According to Monah’s mother Sakina, the four men took her outside the village and gang raped her in a field before killing her by slitting her throat. “The body bore clear marks of torture and the girl’s head had been cut off,” said Nishtar Hospital Dr Imran Muhammad.“We smelled something rotting in the well near the fields and then chanced upon the body,” said villager Mubeen. “The body had been mutilated and the smell was overwhelming. I immediately called the police,” he said.
Sadar Police Station House Officer (SHO) Akhtar Dogar arrested all the accused but then released them. “He told me he didn’t have enough evidence to hold them even though the doctors released a medical report and conducted tests,” Zulfiqar said. “The police lodged an initial FIR on the victim’s fathers complaint but we didn’t have enough evidence to hold the men so we let them go,” Dogar said. Locals in the area protested against the police after the accused were released. “Everyone knows that the police took a heavy bribe from these men. They are landlords and can afford to pay them off. I am a poor man but I will not settle,” said Zulfiqar. The post mortem report of the victim has been sent to Multan and Lahore and results have confirmed that Monah was gang raped.
“I have still ordered a detailed report to confirm DNA samples,” said medical officer (MO) Dr Ghazala Kanwal at the Vehari DHQ hospital. Protesters said that police officials had initially arrested Arif and Bilal after filing an FIR but released them after wards. “Then they arrested three innocent people and tried to get me to sign that they had murdered my daughter. I refused to implicate them and then they let everyone go,” Zulfiqar said.
Another accused, Shahid, is the nephew of the former mayor of the district Malik Zahid and protesters said that Zahid and his family had put pressure on the police“They tried to get me to take the case back and negotiate but I want justice,” Zulfiqar said. The protesters have appealed to the chief minister IG Punjab Javed Iqbal to take notice in this case. SHO Dogar told The Express Tribune that the police were investigating the case in accordance with the law and would arrest the accused if they were found guilty.

I thought these two quotes were interesting and damning on the state of law enforcement showing injustice compounded
Basically the poor victim's father is being tested, enduring grief and denied justice thanks to an obstructing corrupt police force that chooses to be accomplices in criminal activity, ready to lie and protect vile rapists and murdering butchers, after getting paid of course, destroying 3 other lives on the way.
Hope, Shahid, Arif, Bilal and Khalid get caught and convicted, and burn in hell. Would like to see their families also be put on trial for obstructing justice and knowingly harbouring these scum.
@Ali: no you are wrong. the problem is that rapes are not reported in muslim countries beacause of shame and all other communal aspects. in the west everything is reported and people like you use those facts to show your "holier than thou" position.
isnt it the truth that mullahs have been raping children for decades?but nobody reports as everyone is scared to death of THE MULLAH.
@Ali: It is not that US has large number of rapes, the fact is there is NO social stigma about reporting rapes & better reporting and collection of data is the main culprit in showing large number of rapes.
Pakistan needs to get a grip on crime and people who commit them should be served with justice.
@Ali: How typical. No guilt, no shame, no introspection. Just blame demonic behavior of society on media.
@Ali: You are correct. In the Muslim world it it is incest that is endemic and the victims have to repeatedly endure the cruel act in silence at the fear of getting killed or tortured by their own family
@Ali: The figures of rapes in western countries are higher because the victims have the power to report the crime to the police and are given justice. In muslim countries, when someone is raped then a) he or she is expected to remain silent b) the family sweeps the matter under the rug to protect family name and 'honor' c) If a brave soul reports the crime then they are made an outcast in the community and blamed for having invited the rape. d) the girls are killed by family members for bring 'shame' and 'dishonor' upon the family.
You are blaming the victim instead of the perpetrator of the crime. Blame the rapist not the victim. Change your mentality. You are effectively saying that you cannot control your lust and will rape a girl after having seen 'vulgarity' on tv.
@Maher: adult movies may be!
@Pakistani First: It is not the matter of not having co-education. US and other european countries have co-education but still rape cases in those countries are highest among all other countries. I would say, its all this MEN's society, where they use/misuse women. Unless each and everyone responsible for such crimes is held responsible and punished we can't expect better off this society.
@Pakistani First: lol...
are you serious? yes in america they are allowed to learn in the same classroom and as we all know the most # of rapes happen in usa & not in any muslim country.
The case of Pakistan is that the media keeps on promoting vulgarity/nudity which slowly makes a man from human to sex beast. Then we also don;t have any law n order in the country. So this will happen.
this will increase as we are provoked to be more sex beasts!
@pakistani first
Its not segeration, and where do we have segregation in villages and towns, this is the result of lust, and belief that they wills cott free.
and for God sake do not drag the religion here and politicise the issue
This is an issue of mere disregard fro human values and morality.
That's all happening due to the non implementation of law & order. & this is also the main reason that people take law in their own hands, when they don't got justice.
Generally speaking, too much segregation of society leads to such activities. If boys and girls grow up learning in the same classrooms they learn to respect each other and such incidents would be less likely. Obviously the mullah community will shout down that idea as haram.
leave every thing aside.
This is the biggest terrorism in the world.
The society is gone rougue on these issues.
Unacceptable, unacceptable. What are the rulers doing. Unless and untill you protect your daughters, sisters, wives and mothers do not expect to rise as a nation.
Is Multan getting ahead of itself on violence and crimes against women ?
