Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Friday criticised the hike in electricity prices, saying it would increase cost of production.
FPCCI President Senator Haji Ghulam Ali and SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice President Iftikhar Ali Malik in a joint statement said that the Petroleum Ministry has estimated that gas theft causes losses of Rs20 billion and oil theft losses of Rs18 billion a year-other than the billions of rupees worth of energy pilferage in the country. They stated that instead of abrupt price hike of power, gas and petroleum products, the government must check the “theft” of these vital resources.
