Nineteen-year-old Mathira Mohammad is as unpredictable as British weather. From flaunting her style statement — which may be termed as ‘minimalistic’ by some — to fighting her condescending callers with valour, Mohammad has the guts to do it all.
Termed as ‘Pakistan’s Paris Hilton’ by the Los Angeles Times, Mohammad has garnered media attention with her explicit terms of endearment, (“Koochie koochie muah muah”), for her fans and her suggestive dance moves onstage and on-screen.
Breaking boundaries
I have been called hot and sexy a lot of times. I take such comments with a smile. I don’t mind when someone comments on my figure. Initially I did, but then I realised if somebody calls me hot and sexy, they are definitely calling me pretty. People ask me if I had always aimed to break rules, but then they don’t realise breaking something is no one’s aim. When you break a glass, you haven’t been aiming for that. I was just being myself and that I didn’t know that would be like breaking boundaries!
The real and the reel Mathira
I’m as annoying and lively off screen as I am during my show. But there are always two sides to a person. When I am on my own, I am very sombre but the public side of Mathira is annoying, in-your-face and rebellious. I feel it’s better you smile and make others smile with you.
The bold side of me also makes me nonchalant towards the criticism I get. At one time, a caller taunted me for wearing a miniskirt. Now I don’t care if he hasn’t seen a woman wearing a miniskirt, I don’t take this narrow-minded bakwas.
Is Mathira the ‘modern’ Pakistani woman?
I don’t know if people are saying this or not, but if they are, then thank you! It just might be true. I believe every woman who goes out and works is modern. Pakistan is becoming modern so it is good.
Sharing too much?
Just like me, my family doesn’t take crap. My family knows my BlackBerry Messenger contact is common amongst my fans and they don’t care. This just means that 800 people out there know when I am smiling and when I am crying and what I am doing today. I have a loving family, that understands the importance of my career in my life.
What the future holds
I don’t like sharing what I am planning to do. For example, you don’t tell people when you plan on having a baby, you just have it. But yes, I am releasing a song soon which is titled “Jadogaar”. Just like me, my video will be extremely different and will not be the typical Pakistani video. Some might like it, some may not. But this is something completely for myself. It’s my desire and for myself. The LA Times published an article about me and yes more international articles are going to come out, so everyone should look out for them. I am also coming up with a very bold reality show. Besides, that I feel that a move to Aag TV chanel was a very positive thing to do since it is helping my progress tremendously.

Modern look what we have taken that word for. I think if Mathira reduces her clothes then she could be the most modern woman of Pakistan. Such a pity on us that what we are appreciating. Mathira you called yourself a Muslim have you ever gone through an Islamiat Book of 5th class which has just the base of Islam to groom a Kid as per the religion ? What is the Modernism in Islam? Its just to wear good clean clothes as per your wealth and those must be made keeping in mind What our Prophet MUHAMMAD (P.B.U.H) told us to.In my eyes a woman is Most Beautiful when she has covered herself else when she is nude and showing her figure and a show piece for others. What place these girls have in our society we all knows. Open minded does not means we should close eyes from what was implemented approx 1400 years ago as that is not meant to be altered / amended and must be followed as TOLD. This country was taken in the name of Islam and with this type of Modernism we are making the World to laugh at us that "THESE" are the Muslims who on one side say Prayers, Fast and Perform Hajj and on another side showing in their channels Nudity, etc and that is just because of some fake people. I ask these Channels, can't they promote their channels using some other means than this?
She is just a little girl .. let her live her life folks ... and what the fish is wrong with people who always think a purda-less pretty figure is representing them and their ancestral religion and culture.
Go get a life baby.
There is a thing called "free will", anyone ever heard about it? She can do whatever she wants to do as long as no one gets hurt. That is all there is to it. Who are we to judge her? Who are we to comment on her modesty? If you don't like her, change the channel, that's why they invented the remote control and like a hundred other channels. But that's what the people don't want to do. They want to watch, and to justify watching the show and enjoying it to their own consciences, they comment on her "modesty " like old aunties in a party. And as for using her surname, people how stupid can you get? No one is referring to the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H), how do you people even come up with these controversial thoughts?
Can we send her to Indian reality show Big Boss...? Please!!
Isn't she imported to Pakistan?
long live objectification of women.
What a hypocrite society we are, We proudly portrays [our Media] about Katrina Kaif which is half English and half Desi as goddess in Media,
But when it comes put this poor little Mathira, who also happens to be half desi half gori, our society as whole don't leave any chance of criticizing her, so whats her fault?
Her only fault is that she Belongs to Pakistan?
She should be given same respect in Our Media that our media gives to Katrina Kaif,
She is Pakistani Katrina Kaif.
No More Bakwaas Indeed.
@Sara: Why is women's modesty so much attached to her cleavage? Why should women cover themselves to avoid disturbing guys around her ??? Why not guys do more to self preserve themselves and not go nuts every time we see a sight of the skin ? Truth is the term modesty is heavily used in context to women and is mostly used to protect us guys not women from going bananas about it. Saying that , this does not make Mathira a modern girl just because she chooses to show her cleavage and act like Paris Hilton. If she thinks being called Paris Hilton is compliment then "hahahahahahaa", thats all I can say. I live in USA and irrespective how my Indian and Pakistani friends think about how vulgar we are, gals out here are for more composed and modest than the females from our country. And Paris Hilton is just the icon for white trash and not the regular family girl. This is not judgement but good enough experience to make it a generalized statement. Don't believe it ? Then welcome to USA.
waaat?! yea right right.
Go for it it girl. The sky is the limit
Lmfao - i'm sexy and i know it :p
Well....we could do without her.
So what , she is hot, sexy and whats the prb. This is not an ISLAMIC country so why we are bothered??
Why the hell you are referring her as Mohammad. Even if it's her lat name, it should be never used alone for referring any person and that too for that girl. I request ET to edit this article and write her original name in it.
I like her. Admittedly she does attract attention
19 years old? Are you kidding me? LOL
"I’m as annoying and lively off screen as I am during my show." Thank god. she finally admits she is annoying.
"My family knows my BlackBerry Messenger contact is common amongst my fans and they don’t care. " Acha. you have a BlackBerry too. Vadde loog!
19!!!!!!!LOL
No comments! i dont find this article worth for critical appreciation
Face the Race! She is running in publicity race.......
'Paris Hilton of Pakistan' that's not a very good advertisement of our country in front of the world.
was listening to her radio show on 89 last night, and i must say radio was never soo entertaining.
So much for losing religious values and culture,.. ughhh... what abt watching nudes all day on our tiny screens and sitting in heera mandi puffing away smoke rings, pretending to be the elite? lets lose the hypocrisy cloak. Please!
What I like about Mathira is that she is not a hypocrite, has the courage of her convictions, is ambitious and hey!! she looks fabulous and has a sharp mind to match. I feel those who are being harsh with their criticism seriously need to address their own insecurities. Live and let live is the need of the hour.
Modernization does not require to be VULGAR. Who is the most modern Female in Pakistan ? The one who comes nude on TV ...
What kind of people u r i cant imagine who links Vulgarity , Nudity with modernization (enlightment) .
I am enlighted and moderate muslim it does not mean that i let my sis on the road whtevr she wants. I ask so called moderate/ modern pakistanis to let me do with their sis and wives wht i want .......
You educated people have not read "PROTOCOLS" of jews. they have planned to increase nudity in the world. so much amzaed on u.
Listen she is hot and she can flaunt it, you girls are just jealous cuz u aint got what she does. woot woot!!
These are not new values - they are old ones which General Zia tried to get rid of, his attempt backfired with a vengeance. As long as she is pretty who cares what her age is.
This type of 'humans' are not mentally stable and are more vulnerable to complexions, bipolarity and depression. She probably lives in her own little world of confidence, boldness and self-conceit which portrays her self a successful human but sooner or later when she finds out that that's not the case, she will b shattered.
Sorry but there is nothing MODERN about this woman.
I condemn all those who forced pious Muslims to watch her program, and taped their eyelids with the forehead so they cant close their eyes. There is a device called remote control; you can always use that.
@ True Pakistani:
We have a bunch of didactic channels with colorful turbaned and bearded people teaching u the values.
Pakistan's Rakhi Sawant
Insipid Paris Hilton is not a patch on exuberant and larger-than-life Mathira.
we are losing every thing once we had either its culture, values, religion oor beliefs...pity !
the pro with is dat we try to dictate ......live and let live..
guys look if u dont like her stop watching her show....u have option 100s of other channel to tune...so go nd watch.....if u have pro with her show..
Bakwas....
Did anyone notice, the filth put up in this article, the defaming the name, initially the article started with her full name but then you will find this:
"Mohammad has the guts to do it all"
"Mohammad has garnered media attention with her explicit terms of endearment"
What kind of crap is this!!!
here we go again...
not to be islamic or anything. the girl really thnks its her talent that has made her famous. let het live in delusion. its all about gaining viewership through whatever means and that means more money for the channels. thats it nothing more to it
Who gives a damn about one girl who thinks showing her assets makes her hot. I do not like to use the word that best describes what she does on TV. But, its her choice and we should let her be.
PLEASE STOP WriTING ABOUT HER!
@abdul sami: lol speaking of mind or exposing of body as tool to cover it? Sorry dude but this seems shallow
@abdul sami "self-confident,unapologetic female who’s not afraid to speak her mind in front of a male audience." Yes, the 'misogynists' won't object if she speaks her mind while not showing too much of her cleavage. This woman brings me- a modern, educated, professional woman, shame.
19 years? are you sure? :p
She is Miss.Meera daughter :D
even the educated pakistani who is commenting on this report is trapped in the medieval mindset. they still thinks that there is no distinction between culture and religion.
islam awaits its renaissance period when people will get out of arab's cluches and do some progress keeping aside the mentality that women are personal property and object of desire.
aur aur aur aur aur!!!!
she's a very brave girl. The insecure misogynists cannot stand a girl not ashamed of her sexuality. This is what is at the root of all the animosity and hatred towards her,the majority of our men can't stand a self-confident,unapologetic female who's not afraid to speak her mind in front of a male audience.
We are losing our religion value. Our media appreciates and support these activities.
