ISLAMABAD:
Having failed to develop its own blend of ethanol as fuel, the government of Pakistan is now seeking the help of Brazil – the most successful country in this regard. A delegation of Brazilian agricultural experts met with Industries Minister Aziz Ahmad Bilour in Islamabad on Monday to explore possible avenues of cooperation on the matter. The Brazilian delegation included Bruno de Amorim Maciel, a project analyst at the Brazilian Cooperation Agency, the country’s external aid arm. Pakistan has 19 ethanol refineries, but is not a major user of ethanol as a fuel. By contrast, all vehicles in Brazil use ethanol as their fuel and have done so for the last 20 years. The Brazilian delegation promised to explore avenues of cooperation, though agreements were signed.
