Money Matters: Man arrested for burning wife

BAHAWALPUR:

A woman was burnt in a Khanpur village allegedly by her husband and his brothers because she had refused to get them money from her family. Latifa Bibi, a resident of Chak No101, Jhata Bhata near Khanpur, was taken to Shaikh Zayed Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan where doctors described her condition as critical. They said more than 70 per cent of her body had been burnt.

Meanwhile, the suspects – her husband Shabeer and his brothers Mohammad Shafiq and Mehboob – have been arrested by Saddar police.

Station House Officer Rana Safdar said they were interrogating the suspects. He said a case had been registered against the three on the complaint of Latifa Bibi’s family.

According to the FIR, Shabbir and his brothers set fire to Latifa while she was sleeping at their home.
