Amid growing tension between Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League – Functional (PML-F), President Asif Ali Zardari has phoned PML-F Chief Pir Pagara to cool off the situation, Express 24/7 reported Monday.

According to sources, Zardari, in his call, assured to address all of Pagara’s concerns.

Both the leaders have also agreed to work together for strengthening democracy in the country.

Earlier, Pagara had threatened to quit the coalition government if the portfolio of his party’s ministers were changed or reallocated to make way for Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) members.

If MQM declaring it don't want "old ministries" but instead will be happy with more local gov't & vacant ministries then what's all this fuss about? P. Pagara will do just fine with his current ministries, or maybe PPP has some other goals.

I suggest the constitution be suitably amended to permanently allocate ministries to MQM legislators. No matter how many time they quit the government, they are in or out, the ministries should remain allocated to them and kept vacant for them. After all they represent the poor masses and its now their turn to enjoy for the next 60 years.
