ISLAMABAD:

Three political parties: the Awami Party Pakistan (APP), the Awami Jamhoori Forum and the Pakistan Awami Party, have decided to merge together and form the Awami Party (Pakistan), said a press release issued by APP on Sunday.

The press release said that Pakistan was an apocalyptically unequal and broken society created by a system of patrimonial capitalism, while a welfare state was the need of the hour to put an end to the politico-economic problems being faced by the country.

The party will be headed by a three member presidium, comprising Dr Hassan Nasir, Jamil Omar and Fanoos Gujjar.

The party will also be supported by the leadership of a host of active movements, including the Labour Qaumi Movement, Tehreek Bahali Silabzadgan and Women Concern’s Network.

The party currently has its chapters in 57 districts all over Pakistan.

The primary motivation of the party is to build a country without exploitation that takes care of its poor and vulnerable citizens and ensures full participation of women and minorities in national life.
