Dengue fever: CDA fumigates vegetable market

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad vegetable market was fumigated against dengue on Saturday.

Dr Hassan Arooj, Director of Health in the capital Development Authority (CDA), expressed concern over the area’s sanitation standards with regards to its hotels, shops and truck stands.

He directed the removal of garbage and improvement in the drainage systems to protect citizens from the risk of an epidemic. He also advised Mohammad Usman Khan, President of the vegetable market, to routinely monitor the area for any possible outbreak of dengue and take effective measures against it.

Arooj also briefed visitors to the market about preventive measures against the disease and responded to questions regarding its symptoms. Shahid Zaman Shanwari, Vice President of the market, Tahir Ayub, Executive Member of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and other vegetable market officials were also present.
