ISLAMABAD:

Suriya, mother of Azam, an 18-year-old victim of the earthquake, finds walking past the Margalla Towers extremely difficult.

“My son used to work in one of the flats and on October 8 he was sent upstairs by a security guard to collect his salary. On his way back down, the stairs collapsed,” she said.

Later, she arrived at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences to see steel rods going through her son’s ribs. “He died in my arms,” she sobbed.

“For me, the anniversary of this incident is just like an earthquake and it shatters me.”
