Bilateral Trade: Pakistan eyes increased exports to EU

ISLAMABAD: Commerce Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim has said that Pakistan is keen to enhance exports to European Union markets including the United Kingdom. He said this while talking to Acting British High Commissioner to Pakistan Joanna Roper, who called on him on Friday and discussed matters of mutual interest with special reference to exploring ways and means for enhancing bilateral trade. The commerce minister briefed Roper about the steps taken by Pakistan for improvement of its economy and trade and to create competitive markets for its products. He said that during the last financial year (2010-11) Pakistan’s exports had reached $25 billion mark, adding that the country offers investment opportunities in various sectors of economy with high profit rates. Roper assured Fahim that her country would support Pakistan in identifying European markets for its products so that bilateral trade could be enhanced for mutual benefit.
