‘320MW power plant to be operational next year’

Project to help ease power shortage in Faisalabad’s industrial areas.

Federal Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar has said that a 320-megawatt power plant, gifted by the United Arab Emirates to Pakistan, will start generation next year, according to a statement released on Friday.


Qamar, while talking to UAE Ambassador Essa Abdullah, who called on him on Friday, said that the plant is being installed in Faisalabad which will help ease electricity shortage in industrial areas of the city.

Pakistan, an energy-deficit country, is looking for UAE investment in this sector, he said.

The ambassador said that the UAE will continue its support for development of Pakistan. He said that 46 different projects in water, sewerage and sanitation fields have been funded by the UAE while 26 of them have been completed. UAE will extend more assistance for provision of basic facilities in flood-hit areas, Abdullah said.
