Football: Hammam whistle-blower to resign

NEW YORK: Chuck Blazer, the man who blew the whistle on the corruption scandal involving former Asian Football Confederation president Mohammed bin Hammam, will step down as CONCACAF general secretary on December 31. Blazer, however, intends to stay involved in football. “Now is the time for me to look for new challenges in this marvellous sport,” said Blazer, while indicating that he will retain his position as a member of Fifa’s executive committee.
