Quaid Trophy: SBP take lead against Karachi

Raees hits unbeaten century in Quaid Trophy.

Adnan Raees scored a superb unbeaten 141 as SBP gained a 42-run lead in the first-innings against Karachi Blues on the second day of their Quaid-i-Azam Trophy match.

Karachi, who were dismissed for 253, reduced SBP to 23 for two on the first day but Raees, with his 244-ball knock, rescued his side as they reached 295 for six. Blues’ captain Mohammad Sami picked up three for 33 but there were no other bowlers to speak of as SBP gained the advantage.

Sialkot on top against HBL

HBL were in deep trouble on the second day of their match against Sialkot after being reduced to 97 for four in reply to the hosts’ 397 in the first-innings. Mohammad Ayub, who completed his century on Thursday, remained not out for 186 as Sialkot were all out for a healthy score.

Rawalpindi dominate NBP

Rawalpindi gained a 112-run lead in their first-innings against NBP with Usman Saeed hitting 56. Umaid Asif took three for 53 but Rawalpindi kept piling on the runs to reach 265 for eight at the day’s end after NBP were bundled out for a paltry 153.

Wapda, Abbottabad stay even

Wapda reached 89 for four as the match hung in the balance after Abbottabad had made 259 in the first-innings. Resuming on 230 for seven, the hosts could only manage to add 29 to their total with Khalid Usman making 56.

Sabir helps PIA against Islamabad

Agha Sabir batted through the second day and returned unbeaten on 153 as PIA piled on the runs against Islamabad at the Diamond Ground. Sabir faced 291 balls and hit 19 fours as his team reached 340 for four after only 37 overs were possible on the opening day.

Faisalabad staring at defeat

ZTBL were on their way in batting Faisalabad out of the game after take a 202-run lead in the first-innings. After bundling out the hosts for 199, courtesy Zohaib Khan’s five-for, Sharjeel Khan and Rehan Riaz hit hundreds to help ZTBL reach 401 for four and counting on the second day.  Abdul Rauf took two for 64 but there was little support from the others.
