There is a need to produce leaders, entrepreneurs, economists and social scientists as they will be the real force that will change Pakistan. This was said by Lt Gen. (Retd) Hamid Rab Nawaz, president of the College and Managing Director of the Fauji Foundation, on Foundation University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences’ convocation on Thursday.
A total of 195 students of the institute, which is a subsidiary of Fauji Foundation, graduated.
Nawaz also emphasized the importance of government spending in higher education, quoting South Korea and Malaysia as examples. “For a developing nation like Pakistan, the importance of converting knowledge into practice and injecting that into economic and social growth cannot be emphasized enough,” he said. Nawaz stressed the importance of a research-based approach in the academic curriculum, stating that creativity and research output determine an institution’s academic stature.
Thirteen gold medals, 12 silver medals and 32 merit certificates were awarded to graduating students, while the award for best student went to Aneesa Khalid.
