Luggage mishandling case: SC summons govt officials on Nov 1

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has summoned the director-general of the Civil Aviation Authority and the managing director of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation on November 1, to explain their organisations’ policies on provision of services to expatriates on their return.

A three-member bench of the court comprising Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice Jawad S Khwaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain was hearing a suo motu case on mishandling of expatriates’ luggage at airports.

The case was taken up by the chief justice on Justice Jawad Khawaja’s complaint. Upon his return from Canada in June, he had observed that the CAA staff was oblivious to the problems faced by passengers and ignored the complaints of those whose luggage fell off the conveyer belt at the Islamabad airport.
