War against terror: 'Pakistan paid heaviest price'

'Our sacrifices exceed any other nation and Pakistan deserves and expects recognition by the international community.'

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday said Pakistan has been paying the heaviest price in the war against terrorism and said that his country was determined to pursuing the struggle till its logical conclusion.

“Our sacrifices exceed any other nation and Pakistan deserves and expects recognition by the international community,” the president said while talking to Douglas Alexander, British Shadow Foreign Secretary, at the Presidency.

Presidential spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said Pakistan-UK enhanced strategic dialogue, war against militants, recent floods, UK assistance and regional situation were discussed in the meeting.

The president termed the Enhanced Strategic Dialogue of the two countries as a milestone in bilateral relationship that aims at intensifying mutual interactions in the realm of security, trade, health and other sectors including education.

I think that this argument that Pakistan has paid a heavy price is too often used and does not justify what Pakistan is doing now. Pakistan is not doing any introspection at all. All the money is going in the wrong direction and things seem to be going from bad to worse.
