Muhammad Ilyas appointed chief selector

The shuffle came after Waqar Younis' resignation and Mohsin Khan's appointment as interim coach for national team.

LAHORE: Member of the selection committee, Muhammad Ilyas has been handed over the responsibilities of chief selector by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Express 24/7 reported on Wednesday.

The shuffle came after Waqar Younis resigned from his position as the cricket team's national coach and Mohsin Khan was appointed interim coach for an upcoming tour.

Younis had earlier announced that the recent Zimbabwe tour would be his last, citing personal and health reasons for relinquishing his post, which he has held since early last year.

The vacancy created by his resignation was filled by chief selector Mohsin Hassan Khan, who has taken up the role of an interim coach for the national team.

As reported earlier, Ilyas was suspended by PCB in June this year, for alleged breach of conduct for criticising Shahid Afridi and appearing on a TV show with banned cricketer Salman Butt.
