Boxing: Jones set for rare title defence

HOLLYWOOD: Guillermo Jones, who has defended the World Boxing Association cruiserweight crown only once since winning it in 2008, will risk his crown next month, according to promoter Don King. The 39-year-old Panamanian, nicknamed ‘The Cat’, will face American Mike Marrone on November 5. A winner of his past six fights, Jones is 37-3 with 29 knockouts while Marrone is 20-3 with 15 knockouts. Jones took the crown in September of 2008 with a 10th-round stoppage of German southpaw Firat Arslan in Hamburg, but only made his first title defence last October, stopping Russia’s Valery Brudov in the 11th round.
