"Today we received a message from the embassy of Pakistan saying that since this issue has arisen in media, we cannot cooperate and we apologise for that," said Mohammad Yasin Zia, deputy head of the National Directorate of Security.
Rabbani's killing in Kabul on September 20 has prompted Karzai to reconsider his strategy for talking peace with the Taliban.
The NDS, Afghanistan's intelligence service, said it had handed evidence in Rabbani's killing to Pakistani officials to take action last Thursday.
It has also alleged that the killer was a Pakistani and the attack was planned in Quetta.
Pakistan has questioned the evidence provided to its embassy in Kabul, and described Rabbani as a great friend of Pakistan, who was widely respected in the country.

It seems stage is being set for Afg by the US joining hands with India for the future of Afg and the only victim would be Pak. Let the game begin...
@Bipul Rajput: good observation - Afghan boots in Pakistan is a possibility! Do you also know that Afghans NEVER lost a war in their history and Pakistan never won one?
just send back all afganises and seal our border .. we will have some relief and they too
The most interesting phrase in this is 'Afghanistan says'. I wonder what does it mean? Karzai from his palace and a few miles radius which he controls - lol.
@Diggvijay Singh:
You are still here posting all these stupid messages
@Cautious: Former Afghan president Burhanuddin Rabbani was not killed by Afghan Taliban but by Afghan warlords working in concert with US intelligence.
Mr. Rabbani had become too close to Pashtuns and critical of the US mess in his country in the months and days preceding his murder.
He was advocating a new Kabul government including the Afghan Taliban and was working on this goal with President Hamid Karzai. He had improved ties with Pakistan and addressed Pakistanis for the first time in a decade in January through a TV interview. He spoke in Urdu as a special gesture to Pakistanis.
Several ruthless Afghan warlords backed by CIA and Pentagon were upset by Mr. Rabbani’s Higher Peace Council. India is closely connected to the warlords and shared their suspicion about Mr. Rabbani’s activities.
The US military and intelligence communities are not happy with President Obama’s plan to withdraw from Afghanistan. This is especially true for CIA, which has its largest base of operations in the world in Afghanistan, close to Iran, Pakistan, China and Russia.
Removing Mr. Rabbani from the scene has helped Afghan warlords end prospects of peace with Afghan Taliban. The murder has also enabled Pentagon and CIA to put pressure on White House to scrap plans to withdraw. Moreover, Pentagon and CIA almost succeeded in pushing US into a war with Pakistan as way of escaping accountability on Afghan failures. A conflict with Islamabad would have helped Pentagon and CIA dodge tough defense budget cuts back home, and delay US pullback plans.
Hypothetical question - who are better fighters - Pakistanis or Afghans ? I am just thinking - the Americans said no boots on Pakistani soil - they never said no Afghan boots on Pakistani soil.
I envy Pakistan. Everyone is afraid of them. I wish India was a real "Mard" like Pakistan and the fiery, proud Pashtun Warrior
@andikhman: I am sure if you had a vote in Pakistan, the majority of people would want to seal the border and have nothing to do with Afghanistan. How can you possibly say Pakistan needs things from Afghanistan when there is nothing there? By the way there are millions of Afghani refugees living in Pakistan who don't want to go back home. Isn't that an indication that life in Pakistan no matter how difficult is not as miserable as it is in Afghanistan. As for the pitifully little money that Pakistan got to feed and house some Afghan refugees, it is nothing compared to the untold billions we lost due to the troubles and insecurity they brought. Don't forget that a small amount of aid was ever given by the world to Pak for hosting millions of Afghanis. Pakistan alone paid for almost everything but like the thankless people you are, Afghanis live under the delusion that Pakistan was paid to host millions of refugees in 5 star hotels! Seal the border I say and godd bye once and for all.
i think the entire world should get in a big happy circle and just shoot the person to their left. lets get the killing over with. if there is an omniscient, omnipotent spirit guiding people, it must be the devil. the human race is contemptible, and the worst of the lot are the so-called religious. but people will always find something to fight about. dogs are better.
There is a "Dossier Museum" , where Dossiers sent to foreign office for investigating terrorism acts, are displayed for public entertainment. Afghan dossiers will meet the same fate as Indian dossiers. So please save paper.
They keep the killer in a state owned guest house for four days. Feed him and take care of him. They call Rabbani from abroad, in the mean time pampering the killer. Is this Pakistan's fault if your security agencies are incapable of providing you the protection.
Please stop pointing fingers at others for your own fault. This blame game is not going to work.
They should be thankful that Pakistan has refused to cooperate - otherwise Pakistan would have to form a Commission and we all know how productive those are. It's better to get a direct "NO" than a two faced Commission.
After reading the comments i realized that most Pakistanis suffer from the syndrome of superiority (holier than thou). People why don't you realize that this is the reason for your current situation. Realize the truth and be aware of it only then can future be bright.
Sad State of affairs.
Afghan are our brothers; from soviet invasion to post war Taliban/ Northern alliance era and now to war against terror, Pakistan has supported Afghan's as a nation, and Phuston's being a majority due to its national interest, as well interest of people of Afghanistan.
Afghan's can take out Pakistan from equation, but Pakistan can not given the fact that almost 5-10% of its citizens are now from Afghanistan, and because our tribal areas have developed even more lasting relationship not only due to inter-marriage's but also due to common economic and social interest.
Today majority of Afghanistan depends on its commodity supply from Pakistan, off-courses there is benefit for Pakistan traders as well. From trade corridor to social support,no one have been there for Afghan's more then Pakistan - contribution from Iran and Saudi also not reach any closer to what price Pakistan has paid.
Pakistan has been the biggest casualty of unstable Afghanistan; apart from Afghan people them self. However, every nation should decide for its own destiny and tough not very pleased to see how Afghan leadership has chosen India & US as their best partners, as a pakistani I respect the opinion of Afghan people, and i wish them best of luck. I am more concerned how we the Pakistani nation will be able to welcome more Afghan's when the next invasion happens, tough I hope that day will never come.
I wish all my Afghan brothers all the best, and we hope that if this partnership has to end it must be done in a graceful way and that not all doors are closed otherwise Afghans will loose not only a neighbour but also a good family member.
@andikhman:
I felt really sad reading your comments.
Sorry to say but you should be ashamed to say all this. I am shocked that you are talking about facts. Find facts that how many Afghani refugees Pakistan had even having very limited resources which caused many problems but still didnt pushed them back.
I remember that how many of you were in the Capital city of Pakistan without even saying a simple thanks to any Pakistani.
Find facts that when Afghanis helped Pakistanis specially against India. Com'on man, 1965, 1971 both times, Afghanistan sealed the borders without helping a bit.
you being an educated also don’t know that if you seal the border so what will you eat? your eating and drinking is written in only afghanistan. Whatever pakistan is today is all because of afghanistan. It became pakistan on the donations which was made by the americans and other terrorist nations for afghans
Man! this thing is hilarious for me. We are living because of you, com'on. We want the borders to be sealed, for sure, so that our things dont get across you. Do you have agricultural land that you are feeding us? haha Do you think 20 billion dollar can run a state with 70 billion dollar loss just because of Afghanistan. I wish US stops aid to Pakistan.
com'on man, either dont talk about telling facts and if so then better say the facts...
Asalam Olaykum
India said the same thing.
US is saying the same thing.
Now Afghanistan.
Nothing new in the news, it is a foregone conclusion
Pakistan has nothing to do with this, just like they have nothing to do with OBL and other terrorists. They are the most peace-loving nation in the world. Their love for Shia, Afghans and minorities shows in all their daily actions.
Failure of security check in Afghanistan is not Pakistan's responsibility. Kindly do your job and stop blaming others. Guess that NATO and US forces were also sleeping!
LOL "afghan intelligence service"..??? hahahahaha any other joke..? and secondly this unknown afghan intelligence is blaming the great ISI... better wash ur faces before you talk to pakistan...!
Pakistan is not interested in co operating with puppet regime whose strings are pulled by western regimes !
Fix your home problem yourself... You are all Indian, Isreal & American Lobby
I hope the Afghans don't hold their breath. This is similar to India expecting Pakistan to cooperate in the Mumbai attack. Pakistan has already made its choices. The only thing left to see is how long it can keep the show going.
Afghanis being Puppet ? Such remarks shows.
Immediately after Rabbani's murder, Pakistan had voluntarily offered all out cooperation to the Afghan Government in investigating the murder. Instead of appreciating Pakistan's gesture the Karzai Govt. opted for leveling wild allegations against Pakistan in public at the behest of its foreign masters.. The attitude of Northern Alliance dominated Afghan Govt. has all along been hostile towards Pakistan. Northern alliance has a long history of pro India and Anti Pakistan political posture. Ever since US invasion of their country, Afghan intelligence which is basically an extended arm of Northern Alliance, in active collaboration with Raw has been fomenting trouble in Bluchistan. Baluch dissidents and fugitives of TTP have been provided with safe heavens in Afghanistan from where they have been launching murderous attacks on Pakistani villages and border posts. I think the time has come for Pakistan to adopt a tough stance towards this puppet Govt. of Afghanistan.
Afghanistan can expect as much cooperation in the probe as India received after the 26/11 Mumbai massacre. The World has a fair idea who done it from the evidence collected but which culprit ever confesses.
Go to UN!!!
Coming from Afghanistan and Afghanis, this is complete nonsense designed to score points and defer attention. Afghanistan alone is responsible for the miserable state of affairs there. They remain committed lackeys of the Indians and are directly responsible for much of the crime and terrorism in Pakistan. We need to seal the border with Afghanistan permanently and send the Afghani refugees back to Kabul.
There you go. A classic blunder by the Afghan intelligence department. They haven't yet sent even the first dossier to Pakistani foreign office. How unjust of them to expect Pakistan to take any initiative without a single dossier! Dossiers are very useful things -- highly valued among the smart investigating officers. They can hand over these dossiers to their children for carrying drawing sheets and color pencils to school.
Yeah Media! its all your fault!
