Emergency Response: Training of community teams discussed

District officers of the Punjab Emergency Service met on Monday to discuss training guidelines for community-level emergency response teams that will assist with disaster and accident relief.


PES Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer chaired the meeting of district emergency officers from across Punjab at the Emergency Services Academy.

He said that these community teams would be established in accordance with the Punjab Emergency Services Act, 2006, and would help with emergency response.

He said they would be trained in life-saving skills. A training handbook in Urdu had been prepared, he said. The districts emergency officers gave their input on the proposed training guidelines.

Dr Naseer told the district officers that effective community participation in responding to emergencies would save lives.
