QUETTA: The Balochistan government has set up a committee to investigate the existence of a private jail in Sui, following claims by a private TV channel that the jail was being used as a torture cell.

A committee has been constituted under the supervision of Home Secretary Nasebullah Bazai. The Committee will soon visit the area. “We have started an investigation following information shared by a private TV channel. The deputy commissioner and senior police officer of Dera Bugti have been directed to look into the matter,” Bazai told The Express Tribune. Responding to a query, he said that committee members will visit the area in two to three days. According to the news report, the jail was owned by Ghulam Qadir Masori Bugti who had imprisoned about 17 people and kept them under miserable conditions, in complete violation of human rights.
