Commission for missing people to meet today

KARACHI: The judicial inquiry commission, formed to investigate the case of missing persons, will meet on Friday and Saturday.

The head of the commission, Justice (retired) Kamal Mansoor Alam, will chair the meeting in Karachi, while other members, including former Balochistan High Court judge Justice (retired) Fazlur Rehman and former Lahore High Court judge Justice (retired) Nasra Javaid Iqbal, will be attending.

The commission will investigate the cases of 19 missing persons of Sindh and those activists of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement who went missing between 1992 and 1996, said officials.

The IG of Sindh and the Sindh home secretary have been notified about the missing persons and all DIGs have been asked to gather investigative records of all cases and present them to the commission and also inform it about developments into the cases. The judicial commission was formed on the directives of the prime minister on the suggestion of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
