KARACHI: The Vice-Chairman of Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H), Shamshad Ghauri, alleged on Friday that Afaq Ahmed's dentention had been extended on the dictation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
Addressing a news conference in Karachi, Ghauri said Ahmad was wrongly implicated in 22 cases but no evidence was found against him after which he was released on bail.
He termed Ahmad's detention under Maintenance of Public Order rules (MPO) as illegal and a violation of basic human rights.
Ghauri said some elements are threatening to disrupt Karachi's law and order if Ahmad is released. He called on the government to deal with such elements with an iron hand.
