God of War Laufey delayed to May 2027
Sony Santa Monica has moved God of War Laufey's release from February to May 20 2027

Sony Santa Monica has delayed God of War Laufey, moving the game's release date from February to May 20 2027. The studio says it needs additional development time to ensure the upcoming instalment meets players' expectations.
The game was previously scheduled to launch on February 16 2027. In its announcement, Sony Santa Monica confirmed the revised date and said it would share further details about the project soon.
The delay moves the game away from an increasingly crowded early 2027 release window. Several titles have shifted their schedules around major releases, including Fable, which was previously expected in autumn 2026 before being pushed into 2027. The change could give God of War Laufey more room in the release calendar.
The upcoming game has also attracted discussion because it places Kratos' daughter, Laufey, in the leading role rather than continuing with Kratos as the central protagonist.
However, the story is expected to connect with the events of the previous two games, and Kratos is also expected to appear.
The project will continue the narrative established by Sony Santa Monica in 2018, expanding the franchise while exploring Laufey's story. The extent of its wider implications for the series remains unclear.
The delay follows the studio's recent announcement of a collector's box priced at $150, which was designed to coincide with the original February release window.
The merchandise package does not include the game, and it has not yet been confirmed whether its release will also be postponed.
