KARACHI:

A robbery at the newly inaugurated Sindhi Muslim Food Walk has raised security concerns just three days after the recreational and dining destination opened to the public, with armed suspects snatching a visitor's expensive mobile phone.

A case has been registered at Ferozabad police station following the incident, which took place on Wednesday night. According to the FIR, the complainant, identified as Salal, a lawyer, was visiting the food walk with his father and uncle for dinner when the incident occurred.

He told police that he was taking photographs at the venue when two armed men arrived on a motorcycle, snatched his mobile phone and fled. Police said they were obtaining CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas to identify and track down the suspects.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah inaugurated the Sindhi Muslim Food Walk on November 1, promoting it as a new dining and recreational destination in Karachi. The robbery, coming just days after its inauguration, has raised questions about security arrangements at the newly opened public space.
