ABBOTTABAD:

A separate outpatient department (OPD) for children has been established at Ayub Teaching Hospital. New wards for admitted children and a vaccination centre have also been set up at the hospital.

On Sunday, Chairman of the Board of Governors Professor Dr Abid Jamil inaugurated the new paediatric wards, OPD and vaccination centre.

He said the initiative would help provide better medical facilities to children and their parents arriving from Hazara division, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

He said improving paediatric healthcare facilities and providing children with a better environment had always been among his priorities.

Previously, a shortage of beds for children had been a major problem, while the establishment of the OPD in the children's emergency department caused difficulties for patients and their attendants.

Keeping these needs in view, the hospital decided to provide additional paediatric beds and allocate a more spacious area for the OPD. These plans have now been implemented, and the new wards and OPD have been made fully operational.

He added that the completion of these facilities was an important development for people from Hazara.
