Actor Mariyam Nafees has hit back at people who repeatedly question her about having another child, expressing frustration over the intrusion into her personal life during a recent Instagram Q&A session.

The actor addressed the matter after a follower asked her, “Next baby when?”, prompting a sarcastic response about people's tendency to interfere in celebrities' family planning. “Life would be going so well and then people would pop up with their questions,” she said.

Questioning why anyone would be concerned about her decision to expand her family, Nafees asked, “What difference will me having another kid make in your life?”

Taking a further dig at the person asking, she suggested that the question might make sense if they were a nanny looking for a job. Otherwise, she could not understand why anyone would be so interested in her family plans.

“If you are a nanny and need a job, that is another thing. Otherwise, how does it make any difference to you?” she remarked.

Her response highlighted a recurring issue faced by married female celebrities, who are often questioned about pregnancy, motherhood and plans to have more children. She made it clear that decisions about expanding a family are personal and should not become subjects of public interrogation.

Nafees made her acting debut with the popular drama Diyar-e-Dil in 2015 and gradually gained recognition through her performances in several television projects.

She has since appeared in dramas including Yaqeen Ka Safar, Munkir, Jhooti, Fitrat, Ishq Jalebi, Neem and Jaan-e-Jahan. Her portrayal of Khajista in Yaqeen Ka Safar remains among her notable television roles.

Beyond acting, Mariyam is also known for her outspoken personality and candid views on social issues, including joint-family pressures and women's space within marriage.

The actor married filmmaker Amaan Ahmed on March 25, 2022. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Syed Eesa Amaan Ahmed, in March 2025.

Mariyam has openly shared moments from her pregnancy and motherhood journey on social media. She has also spoken about her husband's involvement in parenting and the importance of sharing responsibilities.

While the actor has remained candid about different aspects of motherhood, her latest response makes one thing clear: being a public figure does not mean celebrities are obliged to answer every personal question about their marriages, children or plans to expand their families.
