LAHORE:

NationalGrid-Pakistan has energised a 220-kilovolt (kV) transmission line from Jhimpir-II to the Dhabeji sub-station, paving the way for reliable electricity supply to the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and for new jobs, investment and growth in the region.

Completed at a cost of Rs1,806.90 million, the project is in line with the federal government's decision to develop the Dhabeji SEZ as a centre of industrial activity since dependable power will keep factories running, businesses investing and families earning.

As industries are set up and expanded in the zone, these businesses are expected to create livelihoods for local communities, strengthen supply chains and contribute to the national economy. For the youth of Sindh, this provides a chance to build career close to home. NationalGrid MD Engineer Altaf Hussain Malik remarked, "it is an important step towards strengthening the power infrastructure serving the Dhabeji SEZ and supporting its long-term industrial development objectives."
