Jack Lowden has addressed speculation surrounding his potential casting as the next James Bond, calling the rumours flattering while making clear he does not intend to add to the ongoing conversation.

In an interview with British GQ, the Slow Horses actor responded to growing reports linking him to the iconic role, including public support from his co-star Gary Oldman.

“It is all very flattering. It is nice to be mentioned for any role, and I am just not really going to add to the noise,” Lowden said. He also described Oldman as a sweetheart, saying the praise was particularly lovely coming from someone he admired.

Lowden, who plays River Cartwright opposite Oldman in the Apple TV spy series, suggested that speculation about Bond often follows young male actors once they begin appearing in more traditionally suited roles.

“As a young male actor, generally, the minute you are not playing a zany artist type, the minute you are in a suit, people fling it at you,” he said.

His comments arrive amid reports that the search for Daniel Craig’s successor is approaching its final stages. Variety previously reported that Amazon MGM was preparing final screen tests, with Lowden and Callum Turner reportedly among the contenders. Josh O’Connor has also been linked to the process, alongside several other actors whose names have circulated in recent months.

Oldman fuelled interest in Lowden’s chances in September when he said he hoped his co-star would land the role. However, he later clarified that he had heard only a rumour about a shortlist and had no confirmed information about the casting decision.

The next Bond film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, with Steven Knight writing the screenplay. Casting director Nina Gold is overseeing the search.

Craig last played Bond in No Time to Die in 2021. Amazon MGM has yet to announce his successor or confirm when the casting news will be revealed.
