The Elder Scrolls 6 reportedly titled Sentinel, with Hammerfell setting

The Elder Scrolls 6 may be called Sentinel and reportedly take players to Hammerfell

Bethesda’s long-awaited role-playing game The Elder Scrolls 6 could soon receive its official subtitle, with a new report suggesting the game will be called The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel and take place in the province of Hammerfell.

According to The Verge journalist Tom Warren, who shared the information in his Notepad newsletter on October 29, sources familiar with Bethesda’s plans have identified Sentinel as the game’s official title.

Warren also reported that Xbox-owned Bethesda could announce the name as early as November, potentially coinciding with the 15th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on November 11.

The game was first announced in June 2018, but Bethesda has shared few details about its development since then.

Even during Xbox’s September restructuring, which saw Obsidian moved under Bethesda, The Elder Scrolls 6 remained largely out of the public eye.

Hammerfell reportedly serves as the setting

Warren’s report also provided details about the game’s setting and story. The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel will reportedly take players to Hammerfell, a province previously featured in The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard and The Elder Scrolls Online.

The game is also expected to explore the history of the Elder Scrolls themselves, the mysterious ancient artefacts that give the franchise its name.

The reported title had already attracted attention from fans in August, after Xbox CEO Asha Sharma shared a post referring to the game as “The Elder Scrolls VI: ********”. Fans counted the eight asterisks and suggested Sentinel, the name of a Redguard kingdom and port city in Hammerfell, as the missing subtitle.

Former Bethesda writer Michael Kirkbride added to the speculation by replying “Yep” to a Reddit post discussing the theory. However, Bethesda has not officially confirmed the title or the reported setting.
