ISLAMABAD:

The government on Friday launched a nationwide sub-national polio vaccination campaign targeting approximately 24 million children in 97 high-risk districts from November 2 to 8.

The campaign was launched at the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) for Polio Eradication.

The drive will mobilize more than 200,000 frontline polio workers to administer oral polio vaccine to children under five. It will run simultaneously in Pakistan and Afghanistan, the last two countries where wild poliovirus remains endemic, with coordinated cross-border efforts to prevent its spread.
