Sindh fast-tracks Karachi infrastructure, transport: Sharjeel
Red, Yellow BRTs, Port Qasim-M9 link road among key schemes

The mega city's long-awaited infrastructure and transport projects are moving ahead, with the Sindh government promising a coordinated push to improve roads, public transport, drainage and civic facilities across the metropolis.
From a proposed elevated expressway linking Karachi Port with Qayyumabad to the expansion of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) networks, the provincial government says several major schemes are progressing to address the city's growing transport and infrastructure needs.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said work was continuing on development projects across Karachi and other parts of the province, with particular attention being paid to infrastructure, roads, transport networks, drainage systems and urban amenities.
In a statement, he said the government wanted all development initiatives to move forward under an integrated planning framework to transform Karachi into a modern city. He said work was progressing rapidly on several major projects, including the Port Qasim-M9 Motorway Link Road and the Red Line and Yellow Line BRT systems.
Sharjeel described the proposed Karachi Port-Qayyumabad Elevated Expressway as another important initiative for the city's industrial and commercial activities. The project, he said, would improve connectivity between the port, industrial zones and major roads, helping facilitate the movement of goods and traffic.
The senior minister said the government was also expanding Karachi's modern public transport network. Double-decker buses and additional electric buses are expected to arrive in the city in November, while planning for new routes is under way.
