Disney’s 'Coven Academy' scores season 2 after huge social media response
Disney renews 'Coven Academy' for Season 2 after strong streaming numbers and millions of social media views worldwide

Disney has renewed its supernatural young adult series Coven Academy for a second season following a strong debut on its streaming platforms.
Created by Tim Federle, the series follows three teenage witches and their warlock peers at an elite boarding school for magic, where supernatural rivalries, dangerous secrets and forbidden romances shape their lives. The cast includes Malina Pauli Weissman, Malachi Barton, Jordan Leftwich, Ora Duplass, Louis Thresher, Tiffani Thiessen and Devon Sawa.
The first season consists of 21 short chapters. Nine chapters premiered on Freeform on October 1, with the remaining episodes arriving on Disney+ and Hulu the following day. The show was initially planned as the first young adult series to air on Disney Channel before its release strategy shifted to Freeform and streaming.
According to Disney, Coven Academy accumulated 20.3 million hours of global viewing on Disney+ and Hulu during its first three weeks. The first chapter also appeared on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, where it received more than 30 million views.
Nielsen data showed that the series was the most-watched streaming programme among viewers aged 12 to 17 over its premiere weekend, based on views rather than hours watched. It also ranked among the top five titles across all viewers by that measure.

Federle executive produces the series alongside Darren Swimmer, Todd Slavkin, Amanda Row and Bronwyn North-Reist. The show is produced by Federle’s Chorus Boy Productions in association with Disney Kids & Family.
Federle has also discussed ideas for Season 2, including exploring the relationship between a mother and daughter whose combined power could threaten others. Disney has not announced a premiere date for the upcoming season.
