Adam Brody gets candid about his low-key proposal to Leighton Meester
Adam Brody admits his proposal to Leighton Meester lacked romance, saying his wife deserved a more special moment

Adam Brody has admitted that he wishes he had made his proposal to wife Leighton Meester more romantic, saying the actress deserved a more memorable moment.
The Nobody Wants This star reflected on their engagement during an appearance on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast on October 26.
The 46-year-old actor joined co-stars Kristen Bell, Justine Lupe and Timothy Simons on the podcast to discuss the third season of the Netflix series. During a conversation about the engagement of characters in the show, the group began sharing their own experiences with proposals.
“I’ll spare the details. However, rest assured, it was not as romantic as it should have been,” Brody said.
He described the proposal as “very pedestrian”, explaining that the main romantic element was how quickly he and Meester decided to get married.
“The only thing romantic about it was the speed,” he said, adding that they got engaged relatively early in their relationship and married soon afterwards.
Brody and Meester's relationship became public in February 2013, and the couple announced their engagement in November that year. They reportedly married in a private ceremony in Northern California in early 2014.
Although Brody kept the details of the proposal private, he offered advice to anyone planning to ask their partner to marry them. The actor said people should consider not only the moment itself but also he story they will share about it for years to come.
“I do kick myself a little,” Brody admitted, adding that Meester “deserved a little more”.
The couple, who share two children, have largely kept their family life away from the spotlight. Brody also revealed during the podcast that he was not particularly fond of Valentine's Day, describing the annual celebration as unusual.
Season 3 of Nobody Wants This, which stars Brody and Bell, is now streaming on Netflix.
