Filming for Miami Vice '85, starring Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler, was reportedly interrupted after a man allegedly threatened a production crew member with a butcher knife in Brooklyn, New York, on Friday, October 23.

According to TMZ, the incident began at around 11pm when a 23-year-old man identified by police as Alex Perez allegedly entered the filming location and disrupted production.

He reportedly became involved in a confrontation with a 43-year-old male crew member before allegedly producing a large knife.

The incident occurred near Bay Parkway and McDonald Avenue, close to Washington Cemetery. The alleged threat was directed at the crew member, and authorities have not indicated that Jordan or Butler was specifically targeted.

Footage obtained by TMZ reportedly showed a production staff member escorting Perez away from the filming area before he allegedly removed a knife from his sweatshirt pocket. Police arrived at the scene and arrested him at approximately 11.17pm.

According to NBC New York, police confirmed that the weapon had been recovered.

"The individual was then taken into custody without incident, and the knife was recovered," police said in a statement.

No injuries were reported, although filming reportedly stopped for the remainder of the night.

Perez was charged with second-degree menacing with a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. TMZ also reported that he had previously been arrested five times, although details of the outcomes of those cases were not provided.

Miami Vice '85 is directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for Top Gun: Maverick and F1. Jordan plays undercover detective Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs, while Butler portrays his partner, James "Sonny" Crockett. The characters first appeared in the original NBC crime series, which ran from 1984 to 1989.

The film also features Walton Goggins, John Leguizamo, André Holland, Alden Ehrenreich, Whitney Peak, Camila Morrone and Danny Ramirez.

Production has taken place across New York and New Jersey, with the film scheduled for theatrical release on May 19 2028. It remains unclear whether the Brooklyn incident will affect the production schedule.
